1. Application for Deletion
To delete a JP domain name that was already registered, an application
for deletion need be submitted. Deletion applications are classified
into instantaneous deletion application and deletion application with
grace period.
2. Application for Domain Name Deletion
An application for deletion of a domain name is made by submitting the
"notice for domain name deletion." In case of a deletion application by
E-mail, enter the domain name to be deleted in the column of Subject:
as shown in the example below, and send it to: apply@domain.nic.ad.jp
Subject: Delete: XXXX.YY.JP
In case of mailing, write "domain name application form enclosed" on
the surface of envelope by red pen, enclose a self-addressed, stamped
return envelope and send it to the following address by mail. The
return envelope would be used for sending notification.

It takes time for an application by mail to be input to the machine,
therefore, take notice that it may take some days more than an
application by E-mail.
It should be noted sufficiently that application cannot be accepted
if there is an omission or unclear entry on the application form.
3. Acceptance of Deletion Application
and Notification for Deletion Application Acceptance
When a deletion application is submitted, JPNIC examines the contents
of the deletion application, and notifies acceptance of the deletion
application within 10 days*. If an examination is required for
the applied domain name, JPNIC notifies within 10 days* that the
application is under examination.
However, if a false entry is found on the deletion application or
a false application is found, JPNIC can cancel acceptance of the
deletion application.
4. Deletion of Domain Name and Treatment of Domain Name after Deletion
A. Instantaneous deletion application
When disconnection from other networks is to be done immediately after
a deletion application is submitted and accepted by JPNIC, the domain
name is deleted, and the domain name is not re-registered for a year from
the date on which the deletion application was accepted.
However, only if the domain name was not once connected to a network,
the domain name can be registered immediately after deletion of the
domain name.
B. Deletion application with grace period
When disconnection from networks cannot be done immediately in relation
to E-mail, etc. after a deletion application is submitted and accepted
by JPNIC, the domain name is deleted at the end of a month in about six
months from the date on which JPNIC accepted the deletion application,
and the domain name is not re-registered for six months from the date on
which it was deleted. In addition, until the domain name is deleted,
the organization that submitted the deletion application cannot submit
a new application for a JP domain name.
Classification of A and B above is made by whether the item of
[廃止期日](deletion period) on the deletion notice is entered or not.
However, it should be approved that if the domain desired to be deleted
is not registered in the name server operated by JPNIC, the acceptance
date becomes the deletion date, regardless of the entry of deletion date.
5. Precautions for Writing the Deletion Application
-Be sure to type the application form for mailing.
-Application forms are processed mechanically except for some cases.
Comments, etc. written in other than remarks columns are always ignored.
Especially, there are many examples of writing messages immediately
before the application form, however, be sure to write comments in the
remarks columns.
-Enter the contents applicable to the item after ] (end bracket) of
the item. If the subject to be entered cannot be included in a line,
write it in the next line successively. In the succeeding line, do not
write the item (such as [Address]) but put one or more TAB or space
at the beginning of the line.
-A line ending with : (colon) is not an entry column.
-Do not change the item name or item sequences. As far as possible,
get "7. Domain name deletion notice" in this file and use it for
application.
-Items for which "can be omitted" is written in the description of
each item below can be omitted. To omit entry, nothing should be
entered in the entry column. Be sure to enter items for which
"can be omitted" is not written.
-Even if two or more columns have the same contents, do not write
such omission as "ditto" or "same as xx column" but enter the same
contents.
-Alphanumeric characters, blanks and symbols should be half size.
6. Description of each item relating to domain name deletion notice
is shown below.

(Date) Enter the year, month and day on which the application
form is sent, such as 1992/09/25.
[ドメイン名]
(Domain Name) Enter the domain name currently being used.
[組織名]
(Organization) Enter the organization name registered currently.

Enter the information of the administrative contact who is
currently registered. The information entered here is not
reflected to the JPNIC database. When the administrative
contact is to be changed, perform the update procedure for the
JPNIC database.
[氏名]
(Name) Enter the last name and first name of the administrative contact.
[JPNICハンドル]
(JPNIC Handle) Enter the JPNIC handle of the administrative contact.
技術連絡担当者:
(Technical Contact)
Enter the information of any one of the technical
contact (in principle, the person who makes this application)
registered currently. The information entered here is not
reflected to the JPNIC database. When the technical contact
is to be changed, perform the update procedure for the JPNIC
database.

(Name) Enter the last name and first name of the technical contact.
[JPNICハンドル]
(JPNIC Handle) Enter the JPNIC handle of the technical contact
entered above.

(Application Intermediary)
When the technical contact cannot use E-mail, JPNIC
recommends the method of mediation using E-mail by a mediator
who can use E-mail, instead of application by mail. In such
case, enter the information of the mediator.
When no mediator is provided, omit all items of application
mediator.

(Name) Enter the last name and first name of the application mediator.
[電子メイル]
(E-mail) Enter the E-mail address of the application mediator.
[廃止期日]
(deletion period) When instantaneous deletion* is desired and only if the
domain has already been registered in the name server of JPNIC*,
enter the deletion date on which deletion of registration to the
name server of JPNIC does not cause trouble. When the domain is
not registered in the name server of JPNIC or for deletion with
grace period, do not enter this item.
